Jeep has just revealed the first image of the next generation Compass. Let's just say the model has seen a significant rise in popularity following the departure of the Cherokee, and now it’s time for the American manufacturer's small SUV to shine even more.
There’s not much to see in this first image apart from a few lines. Still, it’s more than enough to give us a good idea of the final shape the small American SUV will take. Its new silhouette seems to be inspired by that of the Grand Cherokee, which is a good thing. The new Compass will therefore be more elegant and modern than ever before.
An Electrified Version
We don’t know much about the model’s mechanics yet, but Jeep does announce that the new Compass will be based on the STLA platform. So, we can expect the American manufacturer’s small SUV to offer gasoline engines as well as electrified ones. Who knows, maybe we’ll finally get a 4xe version of the model? Some rumors even suggest a fully electric version, which should please fans of the brand.
A Third Generation
The Jeep Compass first hit the market in 2007. At the time, its concept was quite different from the current model. The first Jeep Compass was an affordable, entry-level model. Today, the American manufacturer's small SUV is among the most rugged and comfortable in its category, not to mention its off-road driving capabilities.
The second generation of the Jeep Compass arrived on the market in 2016, and it is the one currently available. This represents an eternity in the automotive industry, even if it’s not unusual. Anyway, you can understand that it was time for Jeep to introduce a new Compass, and I’m sure the model’s next generation will be well received.
For now, the third generation of the Jeep Compass is expected to hit the North American market in 2026. However, it’s possible that the American manufacturer’s SUV will already be available in Europe as early as next year. In any case, it’s a model we’re eagerly awaiting.
